PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device, a method of driving the display device, and an electronic appliance which are capable of realizing FRC driving while reducing screen flickering in the change timing of bits of gradation data.SOLUTION: A display device in which pixels having a memory function are arranged performs display driving in a driving process that obtains a middle gradation by temporally changing gradation of each of the pixels in one period consisting of a plurality of frames. Lower bits and higher bits of gradation data are written in the pixels discontinuously in a scanning direction in units of lines or sets of lines.
