PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical receptacle capable of realizing optical transmission accompanied by monitoring by a simple configuration and securing the degree of freedom of the layout of an optical path, and an optical module including it.SOLUTION: The optical receptacle includes a light dividing surface 14 for dividing light of a light emitting element 7 into monitor light and coupling light to be coupled with an optical transmission body 5 by utilizing total reflection. The light dividing surface 14 includes a first curved surface swollen to an opposite side of a first surface 2a on the side of a photoelectric converter 3 in an optical receptacle body 2 from a first virtual reference plane having an inclination angle of an angle α° to the first surface 2a, and a second curved surface connected to the first curved surface and swollen to the opposite side of the first surface 2a from a second virtual reference plane having an inclination angle of an angle &bgr;° to the first surface 2a, and α and &bgr; satisfy α>&bgr;>a critical angle. |
