PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that, though all of excitation light and signal light are arranged in the same communication wavelength band and an optical fiber amplifier is used for generation and amplification of excitation light in light amplification using four-wave mixing of optical fibers in prior arts, an S/N ratio in output is made lower than that in input due to mixture of amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) generated from the optical fiber amplifier and a phase sensitive light amplifier for suppression of ASE can amplify only one signal wavelength because generally employing degenerate parametric amplification and cannot simultaneously amplify a plurality of carrier waves unlike an optical comb.SOLUTION: A phase sensitive light amplifier uses a fiber laser amplifier to amplify fundamental wave light in order to obtain enough power to obtain a nonlinear optical effect from a weak laser beam for use in optical communication. The amplified fundamental wave light is made incident on a first second-order nonlinear optical element to generate a secondary harmonic. Signal light and the secondary harmonic are made incident on a second second-order nonlinear optical element to perform degenerate parametric amplification. In addition, this phase sensitive light amplifier may constitute an optical signal generator. |
