PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water purification device generating reactive oxygen species such as ozone or OH radicals with high efficiency.SOLUTION: In a water purification device, a standing wave 13 is generated in a treated liquid by an ultrasonic transducer 7a and an ultrasonic transducer 7b vibrating inside the treated liquid. When applying a high voltage pulse to between an electrode 5a and an electrode 5b in a state where bubbles 12 are captured in positions corresponding to nodes of the standing wave 13, discharge is performed through the bubbles 12, reactive oxygen species such as ozone or OH radicals are generated inside the bubbles 12 or in peripheral portions thereof. Because the reactive oxygen species such as ozone or OH radicals have strong oxidizability, the decomposition of organic substance or the sterilization of microbes contained in the treated liquid is performed by the action of the oxidizability, and practical use as the water purification device can be performed. Because the discharge is performed between the electrode 5a and the electrode 5b close to each other in a portions of the nodes of the standing wave 13 captured by the bubbles 12, ozone or OH radicals can be efficiently generated. |
