PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vibration control device which can satisfactorily inhibit the vibration of a structure without requiring two adjacent structures even when the height of the structure is relatively large.SOLUTION: A vibration control device 1 includes support frames 3 which are installed separately from a structure 2, and mass dampers 4, each of which is installed between the structure 2 and the support frame 3. The support frame 3 has a rigid frame structure composed of a pair of columns 3a, 3a extending perpendicularly and beams 3b extending horizontally in a predetermined direction, so that it hardly causes buckling. The mass dampers 4 have a rotating mass. When relative displacement in a prescribed direction occurs between the structure 2 and the support frame 3 in accordance with the vibration of the structure 2, the relative displacement is converted into rotational movement of the rotating mass. As a result, a rotational inertia effect by the rotating mass can be obtained and the equivalent mass of the rotating mass is amplified with respect to the virtual mass, whereby the vibration of the structure 2 can be satisfactorily inhibited. |
