A liquid crystal display panel and a manufacturing method thereof. The liquid crystal display panel comprises two substrates opposite to each other and a liquid crystal layer formed therebetween, the liquid crystal layer is formed by performing ultraviolet radiation on a mixture of discotic liquid crystal, nematic liquid crystal and light initiator. The mixture comprises 5 to 50 mass percent of discotic liquid crystal, 40 to 90 mass percent of nematic liquid crystals and 0.05 to 10 mass percent of light initiator.
