A beverage container holder comprises a boss or hub portion 12 into which one or more container receiving portions 14 are pivotally connected. The pivotal connection(s) being of a bayonet fitting arrangement is realised by a female connection 32 in the boss to accommodate the male connection 24 of the container receiving portion 14; this fitting allows for easy interchanging of different size holders. A hinge arrangement (116, Fig11) may be used allowing the container receiving portions to be pivoted between deployment and storage positions. The boss includes an adjustable clamp 16 allowing the holder to be mounted on stem like structures like umbrellas. The boss exhibits a bearing surface 12b for when the boss rests upon an object such as the top of an umbrella handle. The boss may be formed as part of a handle into which the free end of a rod-like structure (e.g. umbrella) is located.
