FIELD: electricity.SUBSTANCE: area of assumed fault on an electric power transmission model is selected; an area of distributed capacitance is eliminated from the model and signals for estimating emergency parameters are generated according to simple laws inherent to the detected area. Emergency parameters are estimated - coordinate of the point of fault and transient resistances, and with non-synchronous observation, the error angle of electrical quantities at different sides of the line. Step by step increase in accuracy of identifying parameters of the model is provided.
