PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transit to a sleep state to save energy when the occurrence of kink can be suppressed and entering into a sleep state immediately after completion of an image forming operation is possible.SOLUTION: A fixing device can transit to a sleep state, and is configured to comprise: a heat source; a rotatable fixing member that is partially heated by the heat source, and heats one side of a recording medium carrying an unfixed image; a rotatable pressure member that comes into pressure contact with the fixing member, and forms a nip part with the fixing member; rotation drive means for rotating the fixing member or the pressure member; temperature detection means for detecting temperature of the fixing member; and a control unit that controls at least the rotation drive means. During a predetermined time period tafter the rotation of the fixing device is stopped, if a temperature range of the fixing member facing the heat source is equal to or higher than a predetermined temperature T, the fixing device rejects transition to a sleep state. |
