PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic thin-film light emitting element which achieves both high luminous efficiency and low driving voltage.SOLUTION: An organic electroluminescent element comprises a thin-film layer which is formed on a first electrode formed on a substrate and includes at least a light emitting layer and an electron transport layer; and a second electrode formed on the thin-film layer. The electron transport layer contains an organic compound represented by the specified general formula (1) and a donor compound. (Y represents either substituted or unsubstituted pyrene, or substituted or unsubstituted anthracene.
