摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely detect excessive static leakage of fuel in short time.SOLUTION: An ejection flow rate of a high pressure pump 7 is calculated based on an engine rotation speed (S108). A fuel consumption amount of fuel injection valves 2-1 to 2-n is calculated based on an instructed injection amount and the engine rotation speed (S110). The fuel consumption amount of the fuel injection valves 2-1 to 2-n is subtracted from the ejection flow rate of the high pressure pump 7. The standard passage flow rate of a pressure control valve 12 is calculated (S112). From the standard passage amount and the real rail pressure, a conduction current to be supplied to the pressure control valve 12 is calculated as the standard conduction current (S114). A deviation &Dgr;I between the real conduction current of the pressure control valve 12 (S116) and the standard conduction current is calculated. In a case the deviation &Dgr;I exceeds a predetermined tolerance value x, it is determined that fuel static leakage is excessive (S118, S122).
