PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite strand which allows vibrational energy to be smoothly absorbed and causes no buckling of low-strength steel wire, without arrangement of a deformation restriction material at outer periphery.SOLUTION: A composite strand 1 includes 7-stranded middle layer wire 10 and 12-stranded outer layer wire 20. The stranded middle layer wire 10 is composed of a single central wire 11 with an outer diameter of 3.9 to 6.5 mm and six side wires 12 with an outer diameter of 3.8 to 6.2 mm arranged along the periphery of the central wire 11, both of which having a yield stress of 200 to 600 N/mm. The stranded outer layer wire 20 is composed of six thick diameter steel wires 21 with an outer diameter of 4.1 to 6.7 mm and six thin diameter steel wires 22 with an outer diameter of 3.0 to 5.0 mm, both of which having a yield stress of 2000 to 2300 N/mmare alternately arranged along the periphery of the middle layer wire 10. The composite strand 1 has an outer diameter of 17.55 to 29.2 mm, a breaking load of 200 to 900 kN, and an equivalent viscous damping factor of 4 to 23%. |
