PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing method, by which upon reproducing an optical recording medium having a planar recording/reproducing layer, even in a medium subjected to a recording operation while a defect including deformation of a disk surface is present, tracking on a continuing mark line before and after a defect can be maintained.SOLUTION: In a method for operating tracking on the whole defect or a part of the defect, tracking is controlled by using a signal computed by adding or subtracting a focus control signal component to or from a tracking control signal obtained from a mark line by a reproducing operation. Thus, a reproducing operation is performed under the corrected condition of tracking positions before and after the defect. |
