PURPOSE: A word-learning device and a word-learning method are provided to enable a user to easily learn words by matching images and the words via associations and displaying the meaning of the words and to confirm whether the user rightly studies the words or not by recognizing the words written in cursive script by the user. CONSTITUTION: A word-learning method includes the following steps: a first step of displaying a word on a touch screen when searing conditions of the word is inputted by a user via the touch screen; a second step of displaying the meaning of the word on the touch screen by reading the meaning of the word from database; a third step of determining whether the word written incursive script is inputted or not after displaying the information of a word input guide on the touch screen; a fourth step of recognizing the word written incursive script, determining whether the displayed word and the recognized are coincided or not, storing the result in the database if the words are coincided, and determining whether the number of repeating the display of the word is set or not; a fifth step of repeating the third and fourth steps if the number of repeating the two steps is set; performing steps from the third step by displaying the word once more without accumulating to the number of the repeated times to the database; and storing the result if the displayed word and the recognized word are coincided while repeating the steps and repeating the steps from the second steps if other word searched via the first step after storing the result exists or finishing the process.
