PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline battery separator capable of suppressing deterioration in characteristics of an alkaline battery after stored, and an alkaline battery.SOLUTION: A separator contains 20-90 mass% of cellulose fibers with a remainder being alkali-resistant synthetic fibers, contains dissolved pulp having a percentage content of pentosan in the range of 2.0% or less, as the cellulose fibers, and has a percentage content of pentosan of 1.0% or less. An alkaline battery includes the separator interposed between a positive electrode active material and a negative electrode active material. |
