PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for estimating parallax in response to a visibility energy model.SOLUTION: A parallax estimation device may include: an energy calculating section for calculating energy related to stereo matching of a left image and a right image, which constitute a stereo image; a map generating section for generating a visibility map for determining an error of the parallax between the left image and the right image by using the energy; an energy recalculating section for recalculating the energy for a region where a visibility error exists in the visibility map; and a parallax determination section for determining the parallax from the stereo image by using the last energy of the left image and the right image.
