The device (1) has a torque link mechanism (5) arranged between a base frame (3) and a supporting element. A driving unit (99) actuates the torque link mechanism, and a scissors lift table is reversibly moved by operation of the torque link mechanism from a retracted position into an extended position. The driving unit comprises a wedge (78), which stands in oscillating drivable connection in a driving direction transverse to a stroke direction. The wedge stays in drivable connection with one of two torque links (20, 21) such that the torque link mechanism is operated.
