PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for efficiently converting a substrate using a filamentous fungus as a biocatalyst.SOLUTION: An aqueous solution containing a hydrophilic substrate, first synthetic polymer fine particles having specific gravity lower than that of the aqueous solution, second synthetic polymer fine particles different in at least one of hydrophobicity and zeta potential from the first synthetic polymer fine particles and filamentous fungus are added to a culture tank. A composite layer containing the filamentous fungus/the first synthetic polymer fine particles/the second synthetic polymer fine particles is formed on the liquid level of a water layer formed from the aqueous solution. The hydrophilic substrate is reacted using the filamentous fungus in the composite layer as a biocatalyst. Consequently substance conversion of the substrate is efficiently carried out. |
