PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide spherical graphite cast iron having high rigidity by enhancing Young's modulus by lowering carbon equivalent (CE value).SOLUTION: This high rigidity spherical graphite cast iron contains, by mass, ≥2.0 and <2.7% or >3.0 and <3.6% of C, 1.5-3.0% of Si, ≤1.0% of Mn, ≤1.0% of Cu, and 0.02-0.07% of Mg, with the remainder comprising Fe and inevitable impurities. In the graphite cast iron, carbon equivalent (CE value) calculated according to expression (1): CE=C(%)+Si(%)/3 using the contents of C and Si is such that CE is 2.8-3.2% in a first range where C is ≥2.0% and <2.7%, and CE is 3.6 to 4.2% in a second range where C is >3.0% and <3.6%, and the Young's modulus is ≥170 GPa. |
