The step-by-step variable gear (14) has an input shaft arrangement (25), an output shaft (32) arranged parallel to the input shaft arrangement, and another output shaft (34) arranged parallel to the input shaft arrangement and to the former output shaft. A wheel is mounted on the input shaft arrangement. A double-idler (58) is mounted on the former output shaft. An intermediate-idler stays in engagement with a wheel (62) of the double-idler. A wheel mounted on the latter output shaft stays in engagement with the intermediate-idler. An independent claim is included for a drive train with a friction coupling.
