PURPOSE: A cold crack susceptibility evaluation method of a butt welding zone is provided to implement the cold crack susceptibility evaluation for a thick plate material in a condition which is similar to a real butt welding condition. CONSTITUTION: A cold crack susceptibility evaluation method of a butt welding zone comprises the following steps. Samples (110,120) are processed so that the groove angle of a butt welding zone (130) is to be 30° or greater, the gap of a root unit is to be 1-2 mm, and the thickness of the root unit is to be 1-5 mm. The samples are preheated. A connection member is restraint-welded on the bottom surface of the samples to be positioned on the lower part of the root unit. A trial weld is performed 12-16 hours later after the restraint-weld step is completed. The surface crack and root crack of the trial welding zone is inspected 48-52 hours later. |
