The method involves detecting an actuation of throw-off mechanism, and actuating an initiation of shutdown process of internal combustion engine. The output of pressure sensor is scanned. The first pressure of injection system is determined by the pressure sensor, based on the maximum output signal of the pressure sensor according to the detected actuation of throw-off mechanism. The determined pressure is compared with the first predetermined opening pressure, so that plausibility of pressure sensor is checked. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) an apparatus for controlling an injection system of internal combustion engine; and (2) program for controlling an injection system of internal combustion engine.
