660,296. Endless-belt conveyers. LAMSON ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. Nov. 7, 1949. [Jan. 21, 1949] No. 1789/49. Class 78 (i). A snubbing device for an endless conveyer belt provided with transverse cleats or the like, comprises guiding means arranged at the snubbing point of the belt and mounted on a rotatable member which is stationary during the passage of portions of the belt between the cleats but which is rotated when each cleat engages the guiding means so that the cleats cannot override the guiding means or jam thereon. As shown, the guiding means comprises rotatable rollers 8 mounted on a drum 6 rotatable on a shaft 7. The drum is braked so that it does not rotate when the portions of the belt between the cleats 4 are passing round the rollers 8, but when a cleat engages a roller 8 the resistance to the rotation of the drum is overcome and the drum rotates. |
