PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for foreign substance detection using ultrasonic waves in a steam generator of a nuclear power plant are provided to detect correct positions and shapes of foreign substances that are placed outside after passing through a tube of the steam generator, by moving an ultrasonic module on which four focused ultrasonic probes having each different frequency are circumferentially installed. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for foreign substance detection in a steam generator comprises a probe module (420) in which a plurality of ultrasonic probes (410) is disposed with a 90 degrees angle therebetween so that ultrasonic beams travel in four directions; a motor module (430) which includes a motor (431) to rotate the probe module and a slip ring (432) installed on an axis of the motor to connect ultrasonic probes signal lines (471a) of the probe module to probe module signal lines (471) within a measurement device connection cable, and an encoder (433) to detect a rotation state of the probe module by detecting a rotational phase of the motor. |
