PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of suppressing an occurrence of image deletion while suppressing toner consumption.SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprises: a photoreceptor; charging means; DC voltage application means 4; exposure means 13; developing means having a developer carrier; transfer means; cleaning means; control means 201 for performing a rubbing operation to allow toner supplied on the photoreceptor from the developing means to reach a contact part between the cleaning means and the photoreceptor. The control means 201 determines a timing for performing the rubbing operation according to an amount of toner consumed from the developing means by an image forming operation and a control operation when forming no image per constant drive amount of the image forming apparatus, and in the rubbing operation, a DC voltage is not applied to the charging means, an exposure by the exposure means 13 is not performed, and a toner image is formed on the photoreceptor by applying a development voltage to the developer carrier in a state that a rotation of the developer carrier is stopped or a rotational speed of the developer carrier is made to be slower than a speed when forming an image. |
