PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device that enhances a display quality upon a three-dimensional (3D) display in display devices switchable over between a two-dimensional (2D) display and the 3D display.SOLUTION: The display device comprises: a first display panel that performs an image display; and a second display panel that controls a refractive index in a cylindrical lens shape extending in a first direction and arranged in parallel in a second direction intersecting the first direction to form a parallax barrier. The display device switches over between the two-dimensional display and the three-dimensional display to perform an image display. The second display panel includes a liquid crystal display panel provided with a first substrate having a planar first electrode made of a transparent conductive film and a second substrate having a linear second electrode extending in the first direction and arranged in parallel in the second direction. The first substrate and the second substrate are oppositely arranged via a liquid crystal layer. A thickness of the liquid crystal layer is equal to or less than a thickness in which a rotation angle in a polar angle direction of a liquid crystal molecule of the liquid crystal layer upon the three-dimensional display forms 90°.
