摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress increase in amount of unburnt constituents upon retarding a fuel injection timing.SOLUTION: A control device (100) for internal combustion engine includes: a first calculating means that computes an amount of calorific value per unit cycle from a cylinder volume and a cylinder internal pressure under one fuel injection timing retardation condition; a second calculating means that calculates an amount of fuel energy deposition from an amount of fuel injected and a lower heating value under the one fuel injection timing retardation condition; a third calculating means that calculates a heat loss amount for a prescribed period, based on the calculated amount of fuel energy deposition and computed amount of calorific value; a determining means that determines the minimum value of the heat loss amount calculated as the foregoing, in a course where the fuel injecting timing is retarded in sequence; and a setting means that sets, as an injection timing retardation limit, the fuel injecting timing in which the heat loss amount is increased from the minimum value by a prescribed tolerance value. Here, the fuel injecting timing is retarded in a range of advanced side from the set retardation limit.
