600574 Disclosed is a removable, magnetically affixed, mechanical wear element (10) for attachment to a ferrous or magnetic substrate, such as tanks, silos, decks, and vehicle beds. The mechanical wear element is formed from a non-ferrous material, such as ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene or polyurethane. At least two spaced apart magnetic elements (60) are firmly disposed, or moulded, within the non-ferrous material. A ferrous element, such as a ferrous band or strap (120), is provided in contact with each of the at least two magnetic elements within the non-ferrous material such that none of the ferrous element is exposed on an exterior surface of the mechanical wear element. The ferrous element, in contact with at least two magnetic elements, spreads the magnetic flux within the mechanical wear element. A process for producing such a wear element is also disclosed. |
