MONOLITHIC ARC REDUCTION AND SLAG REFINING APPARATUS

PURPOSE: An integrated arc reducing and slag refining device is provided to efficiently manufacture high purity silicon for a solar cell by consecutively performing reducing of arc and refining of slag in one device. CONSTITUTION: An integrated arc reducing and slag refining device (100) comprises: an arc furnace (100A) which is combined to one device; a slag refining device (100B). The arc furnace comprises: a crucible (106) for dissolving with an electromagnetic induction; a raw material supplying device (101); arc electrodes (104, 105); and a molten silicon tapping part (108). The raw material supplying device is arranged in the upper flank of the crucible. The arc electrodes are arranged in the inside of the crucible in which the arc electrodes generate an arc discharge (107). The molten silicon tapping part is arranged in the lower flank of the crucible. The slag refining device comprises the crucible (112) for the slag refining, a molten silicon introduction portion (109), a plasma torch (114), and a high purity silicon tapping part (113). The crucible for the slag refining is arranged in one side of the crucible of the arc furnace. The molten silicon introduction portion is arranged in the top of one side of the crucible for the slag refining. The plasma torch is arranged in the top of the crucible for the slag refining. The high purity silicon tapping part is arranged in the lower flank of the crucible for the slag refining.
