Kit comprises a paste A and a paste B, where: the paste A comprises at least one radically polymerizable monomer, and at least one barbituric acid derivative as a polymerization initiator; and the paste B comprises at least one radically polymerizable monomer, at least one heavy metal compound, as polymerization accelerator, consisting of salts of heavy metals and heavy metal complexes, at least one alkali or alkaline earth metal halide, and at least one complexing agent, for alkali-ions or alkaline earth ions, comprising at least two ether groups. Kit comprises a paste A and paste B, where: the paste A comprises at least one radically polymerizable monomer, and at least one barbituric acid derivative as a polymerization initiator; the paste B comprises at least one radically polymerizable monomer, at least one heavy metal compound, as polymerization accelerator, consisting of salts of heavy metals and heavy metal complexes, at least one alkali or alkaline earth metal halide, and at least one complexing agent, for alkali-ions or alkaline earth ions, comprising at least two ether groups; and one of the pastes A and B as the component includes insoluble filler. Independent claims are included for: (1) an initiator system comprising at least one barbituric acid derivative, at least one heavy metal salt, at least one alkali or alkaline earth metal halide, at least one complexing agent for alkali or alkaline earth metal ion that contains at least two ether groups, and optionally water; (2) a polymerizable composition comprising at least one radically polymerizable monomer and the initiator system; and (3) molded articles obtained by the polymerization of the polymerizable composition or by the polymerization of the paste obtained by mixing the paste A and the B paste of the kit.
