Providing natural phenomena information to users

In one embodiment, a geographical information system provides information describing prominent cities that are susceptible (i.e., at risk) to transient natural phenomena as well as attributes of the phenomena. The geographical information system may provide the information to the user in an online map. Providing information about a transient natural phenomenon allows people to be aware of the phenomenon so as to better prepare for it.
