FIELD: fire-fighting means.SUBSTANCE: device and methods for protecting process equipment from fire and/or explosion are proposed. In particular, the device and methods use Seebeck sensors or thermoelectric generators for detecting propagation of the flame front or deflagration wave within the process equipment. After detection of deflagration wave, the system controller activates the suppression device which can be in the form of chemical suppressant or isolation valves to protect the process equipment from damage.EFFECT: most accurate detection of fire or explosion and rapid system actuation.28 cl, 12 dwg |
