A touch panel device is provided with a display unit, a detection unit, and a control unit. The display unit displays on a display screen a nautical chart (map) and a host device mark (40) representing the location of the host ship on the nautical chart. The detection unit detects the rotation operation which is a touch operation in which the periphery of the host device mark (40) is rotated at a predetermined angle or more while the host device mark (40) is touched. When the detection unit detects the rotation operation, the control unit switches to another display mode having a different reference bearing for establishing the display orientation of the nautical chart.
