A computer system capable of tracing a cause of forced power-off and a method for providing operational information are provided to provide information useful in diagnosis when a problem occurs in the computer system. A computer system comprises an information storage unit(140), a system unit(110), a power supply(120), a power switch unit(130) and a controller(150). The system unit(110) includes an operating system which provides a power terminating function. The power supply(120) supplies power for the system unit(110). The power switch unit(130) starts power supplied for the system unit(110) or intercepts the power supplied for the system unit(110) from the power supply(120). The controller(150) stores start information at the information storage unit(140) when the power switch unit(130) starts to supply power for the system unit(110), and stores terminating information, matched with the start information, at the information storage unit(140) when the power switch unit(130) stops supplying the power for the system unit(110) from the power supply(120) via the power terminating function of the operating system. |
