PURPOSE: An optical layered body, a polarizer, and an image display device are provided to suppress the generation of curl and interference fringe, to prevent a white turbidity feeling from generating, and to supply the polarizer and the image display device formed by using the optical layered body which can plan a thinning of a hard coating layer. CONSTITUTION: An optical layered body has a hard coating layer on one surface of a light transmitting material. The hard coating layer has a recessed shape on the surface. When an average tilt angle of a recessed unit is &thgr;a and the kurtosis of the recessed unit is Kr, the Kr and the &thgr;a are characterized by satisfying the following equation.
