PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coloring composition which has excellent hue and gives wide color reproducibility; and further a coloring composition which has high color optical density and can reduce cockling when printing on plain paper.SOLUTION: A coloring composition includes a compound represented by general formula (C). In general formula (C), Arepresents a keto body having a specific structure. Arepresents an enol body of an acid nucleus. Lto Lrepresent methine groups which may be substituted independently, respectively. Mrepresents a hydrogen atom or a monovalent counter cation; and n represents a number required for making the positive charge number and the negative charge number equal in general formula (C).
