PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition having low unvulcanization viscosity and excellent low heat generation and a pneumatic tire that uses the rubber composition and has excellent low heat generation.SOLUTION: A rubber composition is obtained by mixing 100 pts.mass of a rubber component (A) composed of natural rubber and/or synthetic diene rubber with 0.1-30 pts.mass of a compound (B) that has a part containing dipolar nitrogen and a 4-6 membered nitrogen-containing heterocyclic part containing oxygen or sulfur in which the part containing dipolar nitrogen has a conjugate structure. A pneumatic tires uses the rubber composition.
