PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of preventing overcurrent from flowing to a charging member.SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a plurality of charging devices 52Y, 52M, 52C having charging members (wire electrodes 521) which is provided to face a photoreceptor drum 51 and charges the corresponding photoreceptor drum 51 by corona discharge; a first charging bias applying circuit 111 for applying voltage to each charging member; control means (a control device 130) which controls the first charging bias applying circuit 111 so that the smallest electric current among electric currents flowing through each charging member by the application of voltage becomes a predetermined electric current value; and notification means 150 for notifying a user of an abnormality. The control means which applies a second voltage of which absolute value is smaller than the one of a first voltage applied last time by controlling the first charging bias applying circuit 111 and determines whether or not it is abnormal on the basis of a value of an obtained electric current when starting the image forming apparatus, and notifies the notification means 150 of the abnormality when determining it is abnormal. |
