PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet feeding device that can reduce feeding speed without degrading a sheet productivity and improve sheet conveyance efficiency while stacking and feeding sheets by an air feeding method by a simple structure, and to provide an image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: A sheet feeding device has: an opening part opening and closing belt 201 that can move a sheet feeding direction upstream side in a suction opening 34a to a closing position that is partially closed and an opening position that is opened; and a CPU 1. While a negative pressure generation part is in a driving state, the CPU 1 makes the opening part opening and closing belt follows a preceding sheet Sa which is sucked by a suction conveyance belt 21 and is moving to a feeding direction downstream side, and returns the opening part opening and closing belt to an opening position at a specific timing while closing the suction opening. Accordingly, the suction conveyance belt 21 is controlled to suck a feeding direction downstream end of a following sheet Sb so that a specific amount of the feeding direction downstream end is overlaid on a feeding direction upstream end of a preceding sheet Sa. |
