摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a membrane electrode assembly with electrode catalyst layers formed at proper positions in a simple configuration while reducing the usage of a catalyst.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing an MEA 100 includes the steps of: forming an anode catalyst layer 12 on an electrolyte membrane 10; forming a cathode catalyst layer 14 on a support 362, the cathode catalyst layer 14 containing a catalyst more than that in the anode catalyst layer 12; and transferring the cathode catalyst layer 14 formed on the support 362 to a second side 17 of the electrolyte membrane 10 opposite to a first side 16 on which the anode catalyst layer 12 is formed. The cathode catalyst layer 14 is formed discontinuously so that the usage of the catalyst can be reduced to improve cost-performance. Furthermore, the anode catalyst layer 12 is formed continuously to eliminate the need for alignment of the cathode catalyst layer 14 and the anode catalyst layer 12 so that the MEA 100 can be manufactured by a simple mechanism.
