PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition and a method for immunisation using CD1D Ligands.SOLUTION: This invention relates to immunogenic compositions containing CD1d ligands that induce long-term immunological memory in the absence of booster doses and/or in the absence of multiple priming doses. The invention further relates to immunogenic compositions containing CD1d ligands and antigens from influenza virus, group B streptococcus and serogroup B meningococcus. The amount of the CD1d ligands to be administered to a patient to activate the immune system changes depending on the age and body weight of the patient to be administered with the composition, normally 1-100 μg/kg per body weight of the patient. A low dose of the CD1d ligands, surprisingly, enhances immune response to a simultaneously administered antigen, and is sufficient to promote long-term immunological memory to the antigen. |
