PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a converter capable of normally performing communication between a first device according to UBS standard and a second device according to SAS standard without increasing costs.SOLUTION: When receiving a response frame including sense data from a tape device 500, a converter temporarily stores the sense data into a sense data storage area in a RAM without transferring the sense data to an information processing device 100, and outputs status information indicating command failure to the information processing device 100. The converter also sets a value indicating that there is an abnormality in the tape device 500 as 1 to an abnormality generation flag. When an abnormality generation flag value becomes 1 and the converter receives a request sense command from the information processing device 100, the converter outputs the sense data stored in the sense data storage area in the RAM to the information processing device 100.
