PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a side airbag device for a vehicle which can improve the efficiency of the constraint of an occupant by a side airbag.SOLUTION: In a side airbag device 10, first, a main bag 20A of a side airbag 20 is inflated and deployed at the vehicle rear side of an upper arm 28D of an occupant 28 and interposed between a side door and a shoulder 28A, a breast 28B and an abdominal part 28C of the occupant 28 and an non-deployed sub-bag 20B faces the rear surface of the upper arm 28D. The sub-bag 20B is inflated and deployed to push up the upper arm 28D due to the rupture of a sewing part S2 of the airbag 20 caused by an increase in inner pressure after the finishing of the inflation and deployment of the main bag 20A. In such a case, the inner pressure of the airbag 20 is set based on the resistance of ribs of the occupant 28 since a force from the air bag 20 is not applied to the breast 28B (the ribs) through a humerus 42. |
