PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a tomographic image to be taken in a photographing position suitable for analysis of the shape of an eye region.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus includes: a fundus image capturing unit which captures the fundus image of a subject's eye; a detection unit which detects each of positions of an optic papilla area and a macula area of the subject's eye from the fundus image; and a capturing position determination unit which determines the capturing position to capture the tomographic image of the optic papilla of the subject's eye, on the basis of the position of the optic papilla area and the position of the macular area.
