<p>The present invention relates to a method for production of cymene comprising the following steps: a) providing a solution comprising cyclic monoterpenes having the formula C10H16 b) addition of a catalyst comprising Fe3+ and/ or Fe2+ ions c) addition of sulphur dioxide to the solution d) incubation of the solution mixture from step c) for a reaction time at a reaction temperature such that at least part of the cyclic monoterpenes are converted to cymene such that a solution comprising cymene is obtained.</p> |
