<p>A method for transferring images from an image sensor, which puts together every given number of pieces of pixel data, out of the pieces of pixel data obtained by multiple image pickup elements, into a respective data block for output, comprises: a transfer area setting step in which an area of interest is set by use of a unit that is less than the given number; an area extending step in which the area of interest is extended to obtain an extended area of interest, which can be expressed with one data block used as a unit, and further, an extension range from the area of interest to the extended area of interest is obtained; an image pickup step in which the image sensor is used to perform an image pickup; an outputting step in which the data blocks included in the extended area of interest are output from the image sensor; and an extension range deleting step in which the pieces of pixel data of the extension range are deleted from the output data blocks to obtain an image of the area of interest. In this way, any area of interest that is to be transferred can be set within the image pickup area of the image sensor, and further, even if a plurality of areas of interest overlap each other, such areas of interest will fit, with the result that the time required for transfer can be reduced.</p> |
