Bedding for animal husbandry, preferably horse husbandry, comprises several bedding particles formed as pellet made of pressed wood chip and sawdust, where the pellet has a disk shaped or polygonal geometry, or rectangular, pyramidal or tetrahedral geometry with a diameter of >= 6 cm and a thickness of 1.5-3 cm. An independent claim is also included for operating a wood chip furnace, preferably a wood chip-small power plant, comprising mixing the bedding for the animal husbandry with 40 vol.%, preferably 30 vol.% fuel.
