CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating liver diseases contains a fermented purple-fleshed sweet potato extract as an active ingredient. The fermented purple-fleshed sweet potato extract is prepared by hot water extraction at 80-105°C for 0.5-24 hours or using a C2-C4 alcohol solution. The fermented purple-fleshed sweet potato extract is prepared by fermenting the purple-fleshed sweet potato extract with Issatchenkia orientalis.
