<p>An apparatus for lifting and supporting cables, in particular for lifting and supporting overhead low voltage cables 2-6 otherwise suspended between poles, comprises an elongate member 12 having a plurality of cable engaging formations 14. The elongate member is adapted for suspension from above, for example having a shackle 40 which can engage a hook 60 suspended from the jib 50 of a crane, such that two or more cables can be supported simultaneously. The apparatus can be used to suspend cables temporarily during replacement of a supporting pole (1, Fig 1). The elongate member may be rectangular (see Fig 5b) or triangular (see Fig 6b) in cross-section, with hooks on two or three sides.</p> |
