The invention relates to a method for licensing a plurality of software components on a data processing system, with the steps: retrieval of a plurality of component-specific identification codes from the plurality of software components by a licence management client installed on the data processing system; bundling of the component-specific identification codes by the licence management client into a system-specific licensing request; transmission of the system-specific licensing request by the licence management client to a licence management server assigned to the licence management client; extraction by the licence management server of the component-specific identification codes from the system-specific licensing request in order to generate component-specific licensing requests; transmission of each of the component-specific licensing requests by the licence management server to a respective one of a plurality of licensing services; and receipt of component-specific licence keys by the plurality of licensing services for licensing the plurality of software components.
